Secured loans and making home sweet home

25/04/2008
A new survey has discovered that 15 per cent of people view their current house as their dream home.

In its annual Home Sweet Home survey, Legal & General aimed to find out what Britons currently thought about their property and what their ideal home would incorporate.

One in five people said a country character house would be their dream, while a detached house in the suburbs with a garden was next in the list of most desired abodes.

However, the poll also found that four in ten homeowners spent less than £1,000 making improvements to their property, with the kitchen most commonly mentioned as the room in need of a bit of TLC.

With this in mind, it could be a secured loan that helps homeowners to access some cash and help turn their house into what they really want.

Certain types of refurbishment or renovation can end up being a wise investment, because additions such as a loft conversion or conservatory may make the property more attractive to potential buyers in the future.
