Britons think they are worth £350K without secured loans
13/08/2008The average Briton thinks that their life is worth around £350,000 without including any secured loans they may have. Combined, people in the UK think their home, car, salary and possessions add up to the amount, the Post Office has stated.
The body also found that 75 per cent of adults have no life insurance, causing potential financial difficulties for their families should anything happen to them.
Duncan Caesar-Gordon, head of protection for the Post Office, remarked that "it is worrying that so few people have taken measures to protect themselves".
"Whilst it is encouraging that people can successfully identify the key stages of their life when they should consider life insurance, it is concerning how few people then actually go on to take it out," he said.
Statistics from Credit Action show that total personal debt in the UK stands at around £1.44 billion.
