Council Of Mortgage Lenders

Practically all mortgage lenders in the UK are members of the Council Of Mortgage Lenders, and this body represents and regulates their practices and conducts research into the activities of the finance industry. It is the principal provider of statistics and economic activity for the mortgage industry. It also allows for easy communication between members of the Council of Mortgage Lenders.

Since the Council of Mortgage Lenders operates on behalf of its members, it has no obligation as such to customers of the lenders and its main aim is to create a ‘thriving environment’ for ‘mortgage markets’. Nonetheless they do provide advice to the customers of the mortgage lenders and aim to promote transparency in their dealings, an approach which has also seen their website gain the approval of the Plain English Campaign.
